So it's been almost 13 years since I got my degree in acupuncture, I can't believe time has flown by so fast! Ihave treated thousands of patients along the way and so many different conditions too, and in many different venues. I started as an associate at another acupuncture office, performed outreach for a number of shelters, treated people in Nepal, and worked in an orthopedic office.
And now I have begun a new journey: to get my Doctorate in Acupuncture. I am already working on assignments and will be sharing milestones along the way. To begin, I'll tell you a bit about what I am studying ...
The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine Doctoral Program is the next step in the logical progression from my Master's level degree at the Eastern School of Acupuncture here in New Jersey. The Doctoral Program will focus on the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with Western Diagnostic Medicine (WDM). I'll be working closely with members of the western medical community to better integrate our two systems to be provide the best possible treatment for our patients.
Interestingly, I already do this to some extent. People come to the office and describe their conditions from their western perspective: sciatica, diabetes, migraines, etc. I then translate them to a TCM diagnosis and treat them accordingly. And as many of you know, we have seen, and continue to see, great results!
But this Doctoral Program will take us all a few levels deeper. We'll be understanding more about the deeper details of WDM, not just reading lab and scan reports but researching the interplay of the human bodies systems, taking both systems to a higher level of success!
Stay tuned, fun stuff is coming your way!
